Baking a Bigger Pie

Sorry to all my fan that I didn’t get a post up until late Friday afternoon this week. I was traveling, had a lot of client work, someone stole my car, there was an earthquake, a terrible flood, locusts. IT WASN’T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!

Not that I don’t have a lot of work today, but I feel honor bound to provide you with at least one post. I know how many of you equate reading about how internet marketing can help businesses make money is like filling your lungs with O2. I understand.

So here it is. Your glass of ice cold water in the middle of Death Valley.

I’m reading an article in the WV Metro News about how tax burdens could be less cumbersome upon all businesses if there were more businesses making more money. Let’s not focus on the particulars of the article, but instead just the concept.

The concept is that by increasing the size of the pie, more people can eat, and the burden is less onerous on the bakers because more people are contributing (okay, so a potluck would be a better analogy for the second clause).

That’s just it. Sometimes people get to wrapped up in “getting mine” and guarding their slice of the pie, that they don’t realize just how easily that everyone could make more money if there’s an open environment for all. They could even make more money. And yes, it did take all of my restraint to not put up a picture of Warrant instead of this cherry pie.

I know this sounds like an argument for small government and good old-fashioned capitalism, and I guess it is in one sense, but I’m really not trying to make any political statement. I’m not registered for any political party. All I want is for businesses to grow, especially in areas like West Virginia – wonderful parts of the country that aren’t currently enjoying the benefits of strong economies…but could be.

It’s certainly not completely altruistic – I can show companies how to increase overall revenue and will earn a nice living for myself and my employees in the process. But neither is it Machiavellian – I really do want to see your company succeed.

To see if I can help your business, feel free to call 1-800-979-3177 and ask for me, Justin Seibert. Or if you prefer, fill out this form and I’ll get in touch with you after I’ve had a chance to check out your business a little bit.
